Not sure about the number 20. In general, quality and quantity of links are directly proportional to the PR. Also, I recommend directory submissions should be a continuous process.
I think it would, but may be boost your PR to 2 or 4 at most. and like kumar said: go on and do it as regularly as possible. toby
do on page optimization as well as off page. building links should be a consistent process. u should submit to more dirs as they all will not put ur link, it takes time.
You need to submit your site to a lot of directories. You need to consider the quality of links, check the page rank and web traffic. Get more backlinks for the site such as article, blog, social bookmarking, press release, classified ads, and forum posting. Google evaluated the site for quality of backlinks does the site have.
Depending on your business, directories may or may not accept your site. But, if these 20 first links are your first ones, don't expect very much. for competitive areas, you'll need hundreds to thousands back links. also, speed rate and continuity in back links are evaluated in gg search algorythms.
Wait till Google updates all PRs, you will see the results after that. But still keep on building links
Either that or look for some high PR links. Just remember, irrelevant BL will eventually help getting higher PR for your website but they will not get you to the top of the SE alone. For that you will need BL from relevant sites.
directory submission should defenitely be a continus process, try the paid directories, that helps a lot more. then you need to buy some featured and premium links also!
Spoken Like a proud paid directory owner how about creating a directory site(s)? my self, would that be any advantage down the road?
don't assume anything by my signature, they are not my directories! i just have one paid directory, and it is pretty new! it deponds, if your list of 20 contains, dmoz, yahoo, alive, aviva gii etc, then sure you will see a high pr soon! else it won't matter much!
