Not true, i am tied up with many seo firms for whom i handle directory submissions, they see dir. submissions as an important part of link building process.
I would agree with the other posters here. I think directory submissions are still effective. Just take a good list of directories, submit your website to them and monitor your rank, it can't get easier than that.. Don't expect to rank for high competition keyword or don't think that you can get to number 1 rank if you are already on first page. They are effective but NOTHING (no single technique) can give you the results I just mentioned.
this only happen for the poor or spam type web directories, quality directories are still work no doubt.
Well I am not agree with you because lot's of websites owner submit his site daily so please try to submit your websites in good directories. And I would say Directories are still more effective. I hope you will get result soon.
Directories are not as effective for gaining PageRank as they used to be. Directories are very effective for gaining Search Engine rankings. Don’t waste your time listening to misinformed fools, you could be submitting to directories. Thanks Brian
You should clean your ears a little, take an aspirin&nap, and then go in Hawaii for a short vacation with your woman. http://www.seobook.com/archives/001583.shtml
well, I think that web directories cannot drive big traffic to your site, only back-links for pagerank
