a question about backlinks from hubpages and squidoo

    hi all,

i need some advice from any SEO expert here about hubpages and squidoo, are they offering do follow backlinks to our site/blog? i have written several articles on hubpages and squidoo, it's been like 2 weeks and i checked with yahoo site explorer, there were no links from those 2 high PR web 2.0

i guess i have reached certain points on both my articles and my account with hubpages to meet the do follow requirements and as well as with squidoo.

i don't want to waste most of my time writing for nothing on these web 2.0 and do not get any backlink reward from them :)

need your help guys, thanks a lot

I think you answered your own question already.

I've worked quite a bit with Hubpages and it will take about 10 hubs for the average person to reach the 75 point threshold to become do-follow.

It's worth the effort as those become pretty valuable links over time.

Hubpages is extremely useful for me, as their internal linking structure makes it pretty easy to get PR2 or even PR3 hubs without building any real backlinks on your own. Just note that hub quality and tags are important. Each hub should be between 800 and 1500 words--but believe it, a single hub is more valuable link-wise than several articles (usually, since you won't have to build it up as much.) Also make sure to link all the hubs together.

I havent used Hubpages so this is new to me. Is a hub just like your own blog page so where someone earlier said you needed 10 to get the dofollow so you need to have 10 blogs in this case and your saying they should be linked. If you link Hubs with different themes does this decrease the value? also when you link the Hubs should they be like an open loop i.e. not like a closed circle of Hubs. Thanks

A hub is sorta' like your own blog page, except it's more customizable than most blog posts are. Each hub is really only about one topic, so you create them like articles, but they should generally be more comprehensive. For linking, I tend to link back to all hubs of the same topic, creating more of a web than a wheel or loop.

If you want, you can check out some of my stuff for an example (they are working pretty well for me):

    http://hubpages.com/hub/mmastrengthtraining

The linking method that I use can be found near the bottom. As you can see that page is PR2 with almost entirely internal links. All but a few of the external links are nofollow (associatedcontent). Getting it to PR2 required almost no additional input from me.

Have you tried to create Squidoo lenses? I've tried Hubpages a little bit (created 1 hub) but now i am using Squidoo - not Hubpages.

don't worry about backlinks - think of it as getting referral traffic.

I found that HubPages make if very difficult to generate much in the way of traffic. My experience has been marginally better on Squidoo. In neither case have I generated any measurable revenue.
