    Hello friends,

It was a strange thing happened. I just pointed my browser to http://mashable.com/index.html. It showed a 404 page but not a custom one. I was amazed. I dig sufficient enough into it and I found its a problem of CMS used by Mashable.

CMS used by Mashable is Converdge. I am not sure why does it happen or can somebody explain me whats the reason. I have made a blog about that comparing different CMS and wish to know why it happened.

I cant find the right reason. Here is my blog.

Please let me know why does it happen with Mashable?

There are no index.html file there. Try with / or with index.php and you will see that it works.

i think the .htaccess file does not include a redirect code for index.html. and this is normal.

@addlinkurl Its normal if it displays the same 404 page that of Mashable's custom 404. But it doesn't
