Hi Guys, I have an image host for which I’m planning to do a press release with PRWeb. Although I still haven’t decided on this, I’m hoping to go for their SEO press release which would cost me $180 (usually $200 but they have a 10% discount this month; a reason why I thought of it). But I’m in a dilemma whether this is going to be worth. For $180 I’d be able to hire some SEO firm to get some links built. Guys, please share your expertise on this. While I’m aware of the impact of a PR which would enable me to land on some media, news sites and plenty of article scraping sits, I feel that these would die after a while. Is building up some solid links worth than the PR?. Please help me decide, given my budget. My site is PR1 and does not have that much solid backlinks. Also please recommend good places to do a PR and some link building and SEO work so that I can have a look at them; it would help others as well Cheers!!
I just barely started a website marketing blog where I list a hundred free press release website distribution websites you may want to try if your interested in doing a press release>> http://marketing-a-website.blogspot.com/ really you should be optimizing your site for your search terms and deciding on which search terms you would like to be on the first page of google for. To decide this I recommend googles adwords https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal this will show you how many searches are done for a paticular keyword. When you seo your site you need to be aware how many tiimes the keywords you want come up in your content and also place them in your headings. You should also be anchoring your keywords in your hyperlinks both on site and off site. Really you need to be consistantly building backlinks within your niche whether through forum posting, blog commenting, and article writing. All of these will lead to good quality backlinks which will help you improve your search engine rankings. If you enjoy exchanging links I would recommend www.linkmarket.com they are a free service which make link exchanging easy. You may also want to consider starting a blog with www.blogger.com or www.wordpress.com and begin blogging about your niche making sure to link back to your site. These are some basic free steps you can take to begin the climb up google serps.
Thanks a lot kbeus21. And I did check out your site. My site has already been optimized for some keywords (about 13 altogether; I’ve finalized 6) which I decided after intensive keyword research (with the help of Google keyword tool too). And these are the exact keywords which I’m going to target on my press release and these are the ones that rank my site on the 3 major search engines (not top positions obviously). A free PR is really a good idea. But I as far as I know, most of them do not allow anchor text and do not have a wider reach like PRWeb does (please correct me if I’m wrong). The problem is the ROI. I can spend several months building links including wordpress, blogger, livejornel blog making, blog commenting, forum posting and etc. but it would be worthless if the same can be archived in a very less time with a PR. Please advice guys.
Do you have something worth doing PR about? PR can be great and if you do press releases right can generate backlinks on their own, however you really need something news worthy to generate any really good press. I'm guessing your going to get more return out of a linkbuilding budget.
I think you need to do a press release if for nothing else than the experience and optimizing it with your keywords, do a couple of rewrites and refine your writing skills. A linkback from PRWeb is valuable as well as the many other sites that will pick up the press release. Calculating ROI is very important and I think it is worth the investment. Unfortunately not all link building is free and this one isn't.I see my first press release in many places and I am glad I did it and I am in the process of doing another. As far as do you have something to write about-Yes! While creating an excellant press release is not easy it is also not essential to have earth shattering news as most press releases also create news. The idea that you have to have created a cure for cancer type of press release is not totally wrong but again you are writing a press release for many reasons. Getting the word out and writing a press release that many sites want to reprint it is essential but back links are very important as well. The truth is you need to do both submit a Press Release AND build other back links. Just my 2 cents!
I agree, press releases can be great. They not only can help with SEO in terms of getting you some links, but they can give your website/company validation in other peoples eyes, as well as spread your name around. Calculating ROI is always hard, as you don't know exactly when and where a person might see your press release. I've never used the paid version, so I can vouch for it, but I have had success using the various free versions. We'd recommend doing some directory submissions and social bookmarking as that's worked out quite well for our clients.
