    Does anyone here know if you're allowed to prepopulate a search box, or link to adsense for search with a text link?

    You're not technically defrauding anyone, because you're just sending them to the search page - not making people click an ad.

    You wouldn't be altering the search box code either, if you used javascript to poke the search query into the Q field.

    I didn't come up with this idea as a way of making more clicks, I came up with it when I was thinking it would be good to link to a page of google results in the middle of an article or blog post - sending them to your own branded page would just be a bonus.

    Anyways, just a few thoughts...
