A PR7 site that copies the articles and get away with it!

I am shocked to see that a PR7 site can copy these many articles, remove the links and replace it with javascript and nobody has done anything about it considering so many articles that it has been copied.

The url is: streetdirectory dot com and the number of articles that can be mentioned are too many to mention. for example:
    streetdirectory dot com/travel_guide/206513/africa_destinations/healers_in_the_kingdom_of_swaziland.html

as you can see the links have been replaced with javascript.

Is there anything we can do about it?

Not unless you are the copyright owner of those articles. If you're not, you can notify the copyright owners and they can take action.

    Thanks for the reply.

If by "copyright" you mean a registered document signed by a govermental body, no I don't have such thing but these articles had been submitted to ezinearticles and other article directories under my alias months/years ago.

Have you written these articles yourself? If yes, then also you can take action.

Some of them were written by me and some them were bought. What can I do now?

You should start by sending an email to the site owner, and asking for the articles to be taken down (citing that you are the copyright holder). If that does not work, you then should contact the website host - and email them proof that you first published the article (archive.org is a good resource).

No, by copyright I mean what is legall copyright material. That is, any creative work which you are either a) the original creator of. or b) purchased copyright rights to it.

Depends. The ones you wrote I will explain in a minute at the bottom. The ones you bought, well, did you pay someone to write them or buy them from a site? How was it done? Was copyright discussed? If not and it was paid for by you for someone to write it, you can probably safely assume youa re the copyright owner.

This is true. If you are form the US and their site is hosted in the US, look up Digital Millenium Copyright Act.

You can also submit a DMCA notice to google and they will remove the site from their index.

And heck, if all else fails, if the site is making some decent dough, and the person is in the US (I'm jsut assuming you're from the US, your miliage may vary) you can take a look at civil court if you have a way of proving you are the original copyright owner. You may be subject to recoupment of...I believe $10k for work not covered under copyright law, so long as you can prove they made the money from them and you could reasonably expect that you could have make the same amount of money as them from your article. If it was registered you would be able to get up to...I believe $100k, and legal fees.

If you are the owner of the content then you can contact DMCA and report them about the stolen content and they will take the desired action.
