Possibly true, but I think they don't want you to put images next to ads period...

Looks like the technique of using referral buttons near text ads isn't working very well either... :(

It's not going to be anywhere nearly as effective as a filmstrip of carefully-chosen images laid out exactly to match the positioning and spacing of the text ads. Referral buttons only work as a way to focus the user's attention on a specific part of the page, which may therefore lead to higher clickthrough rates than not having any image near the ad. But it's going to depend a lot on what your page looks like to begin with. You have to test things out to find out what works best for you. If you're using gimmicks to get eyeballs then be prepared to have to redo things each time a given gimmick is shot down....

Well, it's more that you can't be as clever in the image placement as before. Gone are the days of putting a precisely-designed filmstrip of images next to your ads.

I'm sure it is, although I don't know why anyone would voluntarily put those Godawful fugly buttons on their site.

Jack I would have thought this would not have escaped you but putting relevant adsense ads on a site dealing with adsense may actually convert quite nicely.

I know the $100.00 coming in this months EFT was well worth the simple copy and past to add it to one of my sites...what we're looking at 3 minutes to earn $100.00

Thats $33.33 a minute.....if I am not mistaken that is what Allen Iverson earns playing basketball.....and hes a multimillionaire..

now if I can get a few 100,000 more referals I can drive a rolls too :D

So far none of the replacement techniques I have tried have worked at all. I would love to see more people testing so we could all possibly find a good solution. The way it is now, the only solution that may work is to have a MASSIVE amount of traffic.

If you have an idea and you would like me to test it, please post your idea and I'll give it a shot and post the results.

I just "summoned" Shoemoney to this thread...let's see if he joins this discussion and has any brilliant ideas.. save us Shoemoney! :D

Come on, let's be honest, why would you place pics near ads? So visitors accidently click on ad and would be confused? Why you are doing this? To earn money yourself and broke advertisers roi? Go away with such a tips.

I've actually implemented this on a couple of my sites. It's not a new idea, I know a lot of sites that have this placement.
