A popularity contest

    Hi,

About a month ago I was reading a CNN article about the web, and how everyone wants a popular website. They used the words "A popularity contest". I thought what a great name. I am not a domain squatter, but I registered it...."apopularitycontest.com".

I would love do start something up, but I haven't figured out what I should do with it yet. There is a new show coming out on MTV called a "Popularity Contest" so I though I could run a site with a similar premise. I also thought about running a popularity contest for other websites (kind of over done already I think), or I could do a popularity contest with the Hollywood Stars.

Any suggestions? Would love to start working on it because I think it's a great domain name. I just don't know what direction to go.

I would hate to type that domain url in, that's for sure. It's downright too long

True, but it does have one less character than forums.digitalpoint.com which seems pretty popular.

Yes you could post polls on all topics, politicians, elections, white or brown bread, current affairs the list is endless.

Give points for participation and prizes, could be a lot of work but would attract advertisers.

high $xxx or more with development.

I was thinking about that, possibly letting users create their own polls. The most popular polls could win a prize.

I would still try to cut down the url.
I know this site is a popular one but it's not one that will be spelled wrong. The apopularity part, I'm sure will mess a around 10% of people at least once when typing it in.

popularity-contest.com is not even taken... I think it was a better choice. The name is too long, I agree (and I think it's not a good idea to compare it with digitalpoint.com and its forums subdomain).

In its current form, I'd say, from my perspective: $5.

As for the ideas, well, hmm, not sure, I think you could easily come up with something cool, like some sort of giant poll, perhaps about all kind of topics.
