http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/10/11/plane.crash.ap/index.html Another terrorist attack *possible* but so far not likely, a small-ish private plane crashed into a tall apartment building in NYC. Updates below are in chronological order... UPDATE: Seems it was a helicopter? not a Cessna... they are unsure still... UPDATE: Officials supposedly say there is currently no indication of terrorist attack, it was a gusty day and a helicopter *might* have blown off course. UPDATE: Officials confirm it was a fixed-wing AIRPLANE. These do not just "blow off course" and usually have no business among high-rise apartments... UPDATE: Officials confirm it was a 2-ENGINE PLANE. It's not that small, and did *not* just "blow off course" - especially since the VFR ceiling was over 1,200 FT over the top of the buildings. UPDATE: Fighter jets have been dispatched to fly over major U.S. cities in case this was not an accident... but so far is still regarded as a mistake. UPDATE: Still no link to terrorism, two fatalities (civilian) confirmed so far. RECENT UPDATE: Still two confirmed fatalities, nobody in the building was hurt or killed. Both were in the plane. Plane was a cessna piloted by a NY Yankees player (fail to recall his name) and his instructor. He was a novice pilot with only about 70 hrs. flight experience. Apparently there *was* some sort of radio signal sent out before the crash at 2:41.
checkout CNN channel and fox news they r showing in 71st Street it can be a helicopter too. http://www.foxnews.com/ www.cnn.com
Probably one of those damn news choppers. Which have no business flying around the city (any city)- IMO.
Watching the coverage on Fox. Tempting to assume the worse, given history, but giving it time to discover the facts.
Sorry that didn't come for me before. I hope not many people die in this accident. Atleast I hope it is, doesn't seem like a terrorist attack.
FCC say it's a plane, NORAD just scrambled fighters over a bunch of cities. I hope this crash is not a decoy for something larger.
