A permanent backlink from a Yahoo page - PR7 .. worth it?

Hi all,

I seldom start a thread in SEO forum but would really need some advice on this..

One of my friend has found a way to add a permanent backlink to most sites on a Yahoo page of PR7. He has expressed an interest in offering this service to some sites at low $xxx... Do you think it is worth placing a link on a page like this for $150 - for example?

150$ permanent? Of course! I would go for it!

The Yahoo directory cost me 299$ for a year and its PR4-5..

 

Yes - as long as the page is relevant to your site and your are confident that the link will appear for at least a year.

that's the 150$ question...

i don't think there is a law against that. nor should there.
it might be something yahoo does not want however, in which case once they are aware of it they may remove the link and close the loophole.

 

Getting permanent link for $150. Does permanent link assure you that your site will rank on top of the search engine and you will also get more traffic?

I don't think it is worth paying $150 for permanent link.

I would be wary... No-one can guarantee the link is actually going to be "permanent". And what is the page about? Is it relevant to the target page?

 

Thanks for the comment. He did not tell me more about the page but the following is what he reveals to me:

1) His method is legal (he claim..). This method is open to everyone.

2) The page is currently PR7 with less than 100 outward links. 99% of the current links are pointing to Yahoo's own pages so my link will be the few ones that actually points out to my site.

3) Not all sites qualify for this entry thou.. He says that the links are relevant for website development theme sites.

4) He claims that the link will stay there permanently unless Yahoo decides to bring down the whole section (which is an important part of Yahoo Network).

The most unbelievable is what follows:

5) After the initial placement, I can place other relevant links up there whenever I want for free.

After reading the above info.. i still cannot figure where the link comes from...

I will try asking him to place a link before I make payment and see if he replies

Having perma links from Yahoo gives your site a very good credibility thus you can get a good Google PR out of it too. And Yes! $150 is cheap for that rate.
