A Non-Profit High Content Site to Prevent Juvenile Delinquency & I Can't Get Listed

The site is been up for years, has lot's of unique content and after two years of trying DMOZ still hasn't listed it. I don't have any revenue-generating ads on the site either. It doesn't make sense. With all the for-profit sites on DMOZ you would think this site would have been approved...

I would think so, too, but let me correct you. It's not that you can't get listed, it's that you haven't been listed yet, because an editor hasn't gotten to it yet, :D.

If you haven't submitted after Jan, 2007, then resubmit. A lot of sites were lost in the crash we had.

You have to understand also that there are 6,000 editors, with varying amounts of time to give to editing (they are all volunteers) and there are hundreds of thousands site suggestions/submissions. :)

The Directory is also non profit and depends on it's volunteers.

Profit or non profit, business or charity, doesn't really matter if an editor hasn't seen it yet.

I always enjoyed listing charities, when I came across them, but first you have to see them. They can be listed in Regional, and again in some kind of Topics cat probably.

Thanks crowbar I feel a little better. Qryztufre, site PM'd. I don't want to list it here at DP with my other web activities... I hope you understand so please don't either. I really don't remember but it was where all the other delinquency prevention sites were. When that didn't rippen into fruition I submitted it later under a parenting category because the site is about teaching parents how to supervise and guide their children and "red flags" to look out for...

Soon as they turn 15, they get these little attitudes, :D. Is it just a site, or is there a walk-in facility? If they have an address it can be listed in Regional, at the locality (city) level, to start with.

    http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/

If it belongs in the US, just click on the state and city. :)

    Didn't we all :)

We have a website and do parent groups throughout NY, but pretty much run it out of our homes. We pay for brochures, etc., out of pocket, so unfortunately a walk-in location isn't in our budget.

Thank you for the suggestion though.

    Regards,

Nothing wrong with that, I've had a home business for the last 27 years, ;). Furniture refinishing. I started with nothing but my two hands and a lot of guts. No money. 27 years later, I'm still in business, and the big shops are all bellyup, :D.

It takes more than a nice building and state of the art equipment to succeed. I've seen it happen over and over. You'll make a go of it. I'm a New Yawker, too, but down at the poor end of the state.
