Hi, I am new to Adsense (I haven't even signed up yet) and have a couple of basic questions. The purpose of my site, www.backyardvoyager.com, is to provide tutorials, product reviews and other guides for amateur astronomers and astrophotographers. It also includes historical information on telescopes, optical engineering, etc. So far, I've written all of the information myself, although I recently started looking for content contributers. I've been looking at some of the sites that provide lists of articles available for re-print. I've also begun emailing authors for permission to publish their articles on my site with due credit and links. There is a lot of content already there, but I still have a lot of work to do. But that will never really stop; I'll be adding to the site continually, so I'd like to go ahead and sign up with Adsense now. I have two questions: What happens as I add new content? Will the ads Google supplies me with reflect the changes I make to the site? If I add another section in a distinctly different area of astronomy, will I be given new ads relative to the new information? Also, what about the methods I mentioned for finding new content? Are these free article directories a good idea? What about submitting one of my articles to them? Is that an effective way to get links to my site? Thanks for reading. Any help is much appreciated. As I said, I don't really know what I'm doing here.
Hi, and welcome to DP! Question 1) Yes, Google will serve relevent ads to each page, based on the content of that page Question 2) Submitting your own articles to other sites can be good for traffic, and possibly SEO, as you will be getting back links. Good luck with the site! DD
Well, that isn't a good idea, because Google will think it's duplicate content and if you overdo they might rank you worse. If you wanna submit articles to other sites, write them exclusive for them and add a link to your site.
If you're really interested in the subject of your website you'll find that you can keep coming up with your own articles and that you probably won't want to use other people's material too much. At least the content will be original and that means higher ranking with Google. Astronomy is a huge subject. Every time something related to it gets into the news you should find an increase in traffic to your site, especially if you have built some good links. Good luck. What's the URL of the site? I'd love to have a look.
Use this approach to submit your articles to articles directories: - Choose one of your best articles, and then create a link to your other articles in it. For example: in an article about "the best telescopes", you create a link to an article about "how to choose the the best telescopes". Submit the first one to the articles directories, and keep the second one in your website.
