I wanted to test ppc advertising so I started a simple ppc campaign using 7 keyword phrases. I picked a subject with little to no competition. I have a very very relevant add. Just what the surfer is looking for. I ended up right on top of the search and most of the time I am the only one. I don't understand why in just a few days I got at least 200 impressions but NOT ONE click except for my two clicks. My family and friends agree when surfing the web we have learned to ignore the adds on the right. What am I missing or is ppc dead? I can tell you guys in this forum really know your stuff. I would enjoy any comments you might have. Thanks Guys
200 impressions you more then likely will not get any clicks. You need keywords that are searched more then 200 times in a few days. If you stick with keywords that have a base competition of say under 300k or lower you should be able to find some highly searched keywords for your niche. My last campaign was getting an average of 40 clicks per day just from content matching ads. I was paying a little less the 38 cents per click and made 4 sales the first day. My impressions for that first day was around 30k and only got 30 clicks so on average 1 click per 1k -5k is a pretty good conversion. This campaign should have really costed me about 1.30 per click but I got off with 38 cents any time you can place an ad under say 60 cents you should start to see some clicks and sales later. hope that helps
take your "7 keyword phrases" and turn it into at least 70 if not 700. 200 impressions is nothing when u r talking about a "ppc experiment" good luck
Was PPC for the search or content network? Its hard to say what could be the cause without any other info but perhaps your ad needs work. Are you trying one ad type or several? Also if it is the search network (which is what it sounds like) what are the results like? Because if they are highly relevant to the search term users tend to go natural over paid.
