~A New Type of Directory~ Community-Based, FREE ~Iunctio~

Hi there,

I was just wondering if you could take a quick look at my website at: []http://Iunctio.110mb.com[] (apparently, I can't post live links here, but if one of you just gives me 'positive feedback' I can make that a real link, thanks for bearing with me). It is a brand new place to advertise your site for free. As you'll see, it works differently. If nothing else, could you please just read as far as the announcement "Welcome. Please Read."?

And remember, there is absolutely NOTHING TO LOSE, but a minute of your time. If you feel like it, you don't even have to use a real e-mail address, since I'm not using e-mail confirmation at this time. It's very fast to post your site, and will help both of us out.
We're small right now, but you can get a couple more dozen visitors to your site, which helps my site, which will get even more visitors to your site

Please Note: Although Iunctio is geared towards new sites, at this time, all are welcome, so feel free to post any website you run.

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Why didn't you take a second to post a quick link to your site or comment on someone else's? I can't think of a single reason not to, but there must be between 1 and 50, so could you please let me know so that I can improve the site?

I would just like to give my 2 cents worth.

• I can see what you are trying to do but this is basically a forum about web sites of which there are many on the web.
• You have just done the basic shell of a phpbb forum with no logos or anything to make it stand out from any other forum.
• You have not activated e-mail validation or any other anti-spam device. You will get absolutely hammered with spam once they find you. This is not good for a site that is trying to get a reputation.
• Your site will be wide open to e-mail scrappers so you will not get people registering as their e-mail address will be got and they will get inundated with spam e-mails.
• It looks as if you have launched this site prior to it actually being ready so you may not get alot of people registering (People don't like doing that anyway)
• You appera to have disallowed the use of avatars. Whilst not a big point people do like using them on forums.

Not trying to rubbish what you have done but it may take a wee bit more insight before people would start using it.

Well thank you very much for that input, it's exactly what I'm looking for. I suppose that being a newb to this game isn't an excuse for some of those. I'm now going to go over your points one at a time, and see what I can do .

 

Alright so,

• Forum about websites... Basically I suppose. I just want an easy way for new sites to get out into the world.
• I've changed the phpbb image to my own image (which needs some help itself), but it's a start. I'll try to find another template for my site to be more unique, but I really like the default.
• The lack of anti-spam measures was to make it easier for people to join. Because of your fears though, I've added a visual confirmation, step.
• What is this e-mail scrapper, and how could I stop it? I'll review all of my administrator settings, but I think I already have everything set to protecting user's email.
• Launching too soon, was stupid, but there's no going back now.
• Avatars are enabled, you can even upload it right onto my site's server.

Again, thanks so much for your input, and thank you for posting on my site as well.
Please, any other feedback is welcome. For whatever reason you don't like the site, let me know so that I can make it more appealing to you. I hope that what was up didn't scare too many of you away, but please give it a shot. As you'll see there are a few more sites posted. I'm working on developing a community to comment and rate the sites as well.

Also, what do you think about advertising this on the forums of free hosting providers? On one level it's sort of the point (connecting new websites), but I don't want a flood of garbage either (and so far, people have submitted very nice sites).
