A New Possible Buisness Idea

Hey guys. I am new here, but I just had an idea. I would like to create a site that buys other sites, runs ads on them, and makes money from them. My idea is to buy a server, look around for sites, if I like them and they have good page ranks and SEO scores and what not purchase them, host them on my server, and then run ads on them. I am almost positive this has been done before, but maybe for sites that are a little smaller that seem to have some opportunity for growth. What do you think though? Is this a good idea? And if I was to go through with it, what else would I need to get it started? How much of an up front cost do you think it would be? Thanks.

It sounds a good idea, but if any sites you going to buy can make some ads $$$,why people sale them to you.You can ask a mod to remove your post to the business section.

    Good luck.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. But I had a couple ideas.

1.) I'm providing free hosting to them.

2.) And I forgot to mention that I'd actually buy the site from them. So they'd just manage it, but I (or my company. Do you think it would be smart to incorporate of file a DBA for this sort of thing?) would own it.

So what would they be getting out of it? Some money at the start with you buying it from them? Or on-going payment too for maintaining the site?

If it's only the former, then people won't maintain the site for you, why would they? Theres nothing in it for them.

A lot of people do this kind of thing as a business, just buy low-maintenance sites and stick ads on them, maybe paying someone to keep them updated.

I see what you mean. That's why I'd split the revenue though.

actually if u buy a site,, the generally accepted selling price is 6-8 times the monthly revenue of the site... so unless u dont have ny ideas for increasing the revenue, i'd say u'd take 6-8 months to recover the cost...
also, if the site is not maintained, the revenues most certainly will drop...

as far as providing free hosting is concerned, i m sorry but i dont think it'll attract many people.. these days hosting is cheap nyways - nd i run about 4 sites on a single 7.75/month hosting (ofcourse they dont receive much traffic as of now)

Maybe it would be better if you just paid these websites to run YOUR ads on their site? Although, now that i think about it, that might not work bc they could just put their own ads on their site, which would be why you want to purchase the site to begin with - to have that control.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Obviously, its not instantly going to be making me money, and I do realize that, but it should eventually pay off.
