A new idea: Buy the product, then review and promote it.

    Hey

I had an idea of actually reviewing a product that you bought. For example here .
I actually used the product (my friend had a copy) so i used screen shots and and actually commented on the ebook.

Personally I think this is a lot better way to go as you get a better feel for the book and a better review.
If you buy the book with you as an affiliate it does become cheap, also the same it could get expensive. But you might get more sales.

    Just an idea.

Definitely buying the product or experiencing the service will generate good exposure on the product to be promoted. One can understand the pros and cons of the product and thus you can sell more efficiently.

A lot of serious affiliates do just that, what better way to promote a product then to buy it and review it yourself. Your obviously a lot more informed about the product and you can give people an inside look to the product also. If the product is crap just refund it and you'll know not to promote it.

If I want to review a product, I email the owner and tell them how I intend to promote it and what sales goals I plan to acheive, and also that I would like a review copy. Half the time I don't get a reply and the other half I get a free review copy

    Excellent Idea.
if you are promoting few products, this idea will be suitable.
If you promote many products, it is not practicable because, it is difficult to purchase all of them.

Lol webray. This is good, I thought I was the only one that DIDN'T buy products before *trying to* promote them.

... still no sales! *sighs* One day.

You can also search for other reviews on the product and steal their content. You can usually tell who has read it or not.

Actually this is a frequently used affiliate technique. If you review enough e-books (honest reviews, not puffed up just to get a sale), your blog readers will begin to view you as a credible source. And when you say buy, they will buy.

But again, you have to deliver honest reviews.

This is definitely a good strategy if you choose the right products to promote. I had a much better idea of how to market a couple products after I bought them, but if you're not able to buy every products you want to promote you can always go to forums and ask other people's opinions on the specific product.

Don't mind me, but come ON! There's no way you can know that for sure.

    It's just Physc-babble...

    The question is...

How many of you are vendors? ;)

Years and years of seeing the same mind-melting, it didn't work then and doesn't work NOW!

    Come on! :)

writegurl is right, many affiliates use this method. Actually this method works for me best (I had 5 sales in the last 6 days, so I'm not a pro, just a newbie). I've tried many things before, and this method always helped me to make some sales.

I was talking about buying a product before reviewing... This is not a practical approach for many, but does explain the horrible advertising to affiliates (marketplace) that some vendors do. I'm all for reviews ... just not going to buy a product to review it!

    ... just commenting. Don't mind me. ;)

If I can't review the product and give it a good review then there is no writeup. You really have to experience the product.

90% of products are pretty bad in my opinion, so I often want to know more about products.

If you are seriously wanting to promote something, buy a copy and if it is good promote it, if it isn't, ask for a refund. You can also request a copy for review purposes from the publisher.

There is certainly a difference between reviews where the person has read the book and those where they haven't. You can always tell the generic 'review' apart from a genuine look at a product. Perhaps a better way to go about reviewing products would be to purchase a lot of them and then give honest, genuine reviews on a blog. You can always get refunds for all the crap.
