I know this may be locked quick or I may be in trouble, but why not just ask.

May I be honest? (meh, why not)

Dp is a mess for ripoffs and scams. There is tons of manipulation in transactions at digitalpoint. Everywhere I look it seems like a seller obviously has something to hide. Actually after 50+ deals I've found out later something that wasn't mentioned on the deal, or it turns rotten. There is far too many people trying to profit without offering something good. The webmasters want to trick people into buying from them.

This isn't good but it isn't DP's fault. It is the fault of the jerks who are doing it. Here's a short story. I saw a couple of months back this dude was selling one hot ebook. Everybody was going nuts on it and the topic had 30+ pages in a matter of days. I couldn't figure out why this was happening. This guy was making $1,000's in a matter of days. I looked into it more and noticed that a lot of people were giving positive reviews posted on the topic and them the topic creator was quoting them to bump the topic. I had to purchase it just so that I could have the right to mention my review which would've been honest.
When he replied to me he said that I will receive a second free ebook if I review the first ebook in the topic.
Now it all made sence. The ebook sucked so I was the first out of like 300 people to say that it was hyped way too high for the fact that it was just normal common sense written. He skipped quoting my review and I didn't get the second one, but I did what I planned.

This is a scam in every sense. This jerk was entrapping people to not only bump the topic, but to give a positive review as well. Today the topic is gone and I'm thinking the dude made about $10,000 and walked off to his next scam at DP.

    Here's what I pose

    an anti-scam organization forum.

Ask someone to be the mod of that forum. Now this Mod will create some kind of a system where certian members can ask to join the organization. The objective to this forum is for the team to discuss many possible manipulation and scam deals that are going on in Digitalpoint and make moves to stop them.

So, basically a team of cops for DP to clean it up or suggest to thread creators of the scams to do things a little differant.

It will make DP safer for webmasters and show that Digitalpoint cares about the quality of their site.

    Whatcha think?

Honestly, there is a lot of scam which I noticed here, and from my experience on another forum, I am scared to even post about it! That's why the last time I reported someone I did it in private...but really what you are saying is that the mods aren't strict enough or don't focus on nailing scammers enough, and while this may be true it's just a question of willing adding more mods make the forum safer? That's why the idea of having a team of "mods" that will just catch scammers has become an idea.

This is a good idea, and I think that Shawn or a powerful mod should choose a select few trusted and intelligent members of the forum to become part of that group with a section of the forum dedicated to just them. However, they should not be mods, just helpful members and moderators can access that section to review any proof of scams, dupe accounts, and so on before making the final decision.

Like seriously, the mods do an alright job keeping the forum the way it is, there is a lot of work that they have in store for them. Everyone placing posts in the wrong place, fighting, and so on so the whole scammer section isn't really that easy to dedicate time to, as it takes a while to bag a scammer. Therefore, having a team who can find the scammers could really help the forum.

    I nominate GrAveTzT :)

Great idea but I don't suppose it's going to happen.
My advice is for anyone doing a deal to check out the other party thoroughly using (a) iTrader, (b) the search facility and (c) Google. Most scammers have done it before and someone has made a note of it elsewhere.

And do not be fooled by a large iTrader number alone. Take this classic habitual scammer example:

Oh things like that happen, some become fearless after they been on dp for long and have good connections with mods/admins. It's all about forum politics :D

There are numerous other, admittedly less active, webmaster forums where there seem to be fewer blatant scammers operating - why not focus your online trading there? The number of banned accounts on here must be a deterrent for even the most hardened and determined buyer.

    That's not going to happen....

But we have been talking about this and hopefully we'll have a solution (improvements) very soon.

Yeah I've noticed a lot of dodgy deals around the services section especially.

There is no way to get rid of scammers, it really is 'buyer beware', like mentioned above do your homework on potential sellers before handing over any cash. Many of the scams occur because the buyer is taking advantage of an offer that is 'too good to be true' anyways. That has been and always will be the way con artist work, they take advantage of the greedy nature of people.

I have personally been involved in over 350 deals on DP and never been scammed and only been unhappy with the outcome of my deals maybe 10 times. But of course like everyone else i have been scammed (elsewhere, once many years ago for $800) and it helped me learn my lesson.
