t’s nothing out of the ordinary to see big companies fighting for their market share but an interesting topic has come to light in the lawsuit from Interflora against M&S. Interflora are the worlds largest flower delivery company, M&S also have their own flower delivery among their arsenal. The outcome of this battle could set down a new way in which companies can advertise in the UK. Interflora are claiming that M&S sponsored keywords related to the Interflora brand using Google Adwords. This included the brand name Interflora and other words similarly spelt. This is not an SEOptimization issue. I can see why Interflora is pissed, but most probably the laws will not be able cover this kind of infringement as it is unique and indirect. It will be a precedent though.
