Hi, I have an idea that I want you guys to hear! (or read in this case) I want to make an almost life size image of a car, a 350z, using nothing but photoshop, starting from scratch. this is a very ambitious project, and it is already underway. It is very expensive to do this and it takes loads of my time, so I was thinking, maybe I can sell ads in the car! Something like the brands could be changed for company logos that are bought by people! like, you want your company logo on the brakes (latinforo.net company logo). and it will be placed on the disc brakes in the car! All that is done by me, using photoshop, at a 300DPI resolution (those images are scaled to fit this screen! Since it is only me doing it, I have exclusive right over the whole project so I may do with it what I want. You guys think its a good idea? Because I really like it! The image could be then hosted on the web and a site put up for it with a zoom script and clicky logos I guess.
I like the idea, it is something new. I would buy a part and you could bid advertisers againts eachother for each part.
exactly! its never been done before. Thats why I think it will make it big! It will still take a few weeks (maybe months to complete) since it is such a large scale, and I want it done right! the thing is that the places should be filled before it is launched, since, once it is ready changes are very difficult to make, besides, It costs lots of time and money to make it. you guys think it is doable? EDIT: Just to give a general idea of the scale and resolution of this project... That is actual size of the image, so you can see the detail level And today's progress... (about 4 hours)
where will the car go though? it cant just stay in your house i do like the idea, i had a similar one a while back, but without a car. how much are you thinking?
ok, i missed the hosted on a site bit. its done alot in video games, there are so many advertisers in Need for Speed (and the likes).
ok, the hosted on the site thing, the idea is to have a site dedicated to the image, in which you see the whole car and you can zoom all the way to the max. I remember it was done once with this 2Gigapixel picture, you had the panoramic view, and you could zoom in all the way until you see the license plate of a car 1 mile away. I hope that was clear enough... I dunno how else to put it I was thinking putting like 20-30 (permanent)logos at a bidding start of 150$ depending on the position.
its been done before, ads on cars and ads on girls all done in photoshop ...its not a NEW idea...but still if you do it well it may be more effective then older versions
awe, I thought it was a new idea... but still, its a good one! BTW: I finished the rim and wheel, tomorrow onto the rubbers!
yes Ive seen it done before but not to this detail, I guess this would appeal to the DIGG community... if you put in the work, the results will be good
Looks and sounds really cool, keep it up i'd love to see the finished work! I'm sure you've heard of cgtalk.com, but if you haven't i'm sure they'd be interested (atleast in the art aspect) but it could get it more popular.
sounds like a good idea, but i think it needs to be thought out more, what is going to make a consumer look at a brand on a brakepad or rim? They will see the car as a whole not as a group of parts.
kunk has a good point, but I know that lots of people will zoom in and scroll through the whole thing just to try and find any mistakes. Ill check out cgtalk.com thanks! btw: Ive finished the rim, Im starting the rubber today
Nice job. In advertising almost anything goes so I dont see why this shouldn't. Might be hard getting the car sites to advertise, but general sites should jump at the chance.
so, how much do you think the biddings should start? (considering the immense amount of work that the whole picture will require) I'm thinking around 20 logos starting at 150$ (brake logos, window logos, the small stuff) bid prices and the main logos, maybe up to $300 starting line (car decals, side panels), what do you guys think? It would all be an auction sale, highest bidder takes the part
It sounds good, just like selling pixels when it was hot. However, you gotta have a lot of traffic to that page with the car for advertisers to be interested.
well, people have a "thing" for useless sites, especially when they are interesting, so I think it will have very decent traffic, mouth to mouth advertisement and myspace stuff. I have completed the first wheel! (8MB Jpeg picture) I uploaded it full size to a free file server, fileden. Click here to see it (too big to post here)
love the idea, it will be a success on the likes of digg, and similar sites..and im sure it will get a lot of traffic dude you got skills (jealous)
