At Dinner the other night, someone asked how can any of Bush's people sleep at night? well............. On May 9th , 2007, I had the honor and privilege of driving General Colin Powell. He was the speaker at the Manhattan Jewish Experience Synagogue I never met a more famous regular guy in my life. In addition to talking to me like a mensch, General Powell somehow got me into the synagogue to hear his speech which seemed to be completely off the top of his head. It was about his experience with the current Iraq war, and his experiences throughout his life in the military.He was such a regular guy, I didn’t even feel his security detail. On the trip back to the airport, we had to stop at his daughters house to pick up his wife. Do you want to know how General Colin Powell calls his wife? “AAALMAAAâ€!!!!!!! WE’RE OUTSIDE! One of the fun things about being in a detail of cars is that you get to run red lights and go 100 M.P.H. down the highway. Well, in addition to sitting in the front seat next to me, General Powell was actually telling me , “left here, you can cut down that street†etc…..I will never forget this experience and I hope the general will never forget me.Truly one of the highlights of my career.
