Hello everybody, Few days ago, i started working on http://wikitreat.com and successfully finished it. Now, how do i go about promoting it ? I'd like to generate some sales etc... Thanks,
Darkman It looks like you have a well done project. I am assuming this concept has been done before and if these sites can generate income there will be a flood of clones like we have seen in the web directory industry. Can you set your site apart from the crowd with a unique feature? When buyers consider obtaining a page on the site, I suspect they will consider 3 factors, human traffic, search engine results and PR. If you can create pages with these aspects, you might have a service that people will go for. Getting back to uniques features, what about some free level features as a way to gain content and attract people who might later buy the important pages?
Get lots of national press coverage until the site is extremely popular, then get reviews from John Chow and Shoemoney, and then sell pages. Of course that strategy only works when you're not the 20th person to make the exact same site...
I'd just like to expand on what albemarle24 said -- at the moment there are no unique features and it doesn't offer anything than what the Million Dollar Wiki already has. The logo is almost identical (the background of it especially). If you want to get people buying pages you should also work on the wording. I'm just skimming through your site now and I can spot a bunch of spelling and grammatical errors, so fix them up (or hire someone to do it for you). Good luck! Liam
Try and offer your website as a cheap alternative the million dollar wiki. Put a page on your site comparing yourself to Million Dollar Wiki, with stuff like "Their Price: $100...Our Price: $25! Their Hosting Period: 20 Years...Our Period: 25 years!"
Do something like that....offer a unique feature like first year free hosting of a page and charge after that...or something like that
