A little problem on my hands..

Hey everyone, I'm new to website design so please excuse me if I sound fickle but I really need some help here.
A client asked me to make a custom template for him for a relatively cheap amount. I agreed as I had won a logo contest as well for the same site. Now I admit I hadn't created many templates before this but I made a PSD and the client liked it and so I mailed it to him.

Now apparently the client is unable to implement the template and demands that I do it for him or refund the money for the template. I'm not sure how this is done but I believe this involves coding of the template which I don't know.

So I really need clarity : If I am asked to provide an uncoded template , is it just the psd file that I need to provide or is there something else I'm supposed to do as well? Could really use some advice about what to do now! Thanks.

Hi rhythmdivine, that's a pretty difficult question to answer, mostly because it depends upon both your and your client's understanding of a 'template'.

To some, a template might indeed just be a properly layered and formatted PSD file. To others, a template might be a set of one or more physical pages of code that form a skeleton of a site. From the sound of things it sounds like you've delivered the former and the client expects the latter. If this is the case the resolution of the problem is going to be in the contractural agreement between you, and no amount of advice here is going to change that.

Did your client provide you with specs on various sizes of the elements of the page design?

Thats the thing, I interpreted the uncoded template as a psd - which i think is fair .But he interpreted it in the way that I was going to simply change the existing template images without altering the code.
To answer your question Cobnut, the specifications weren't actually provided..I just redid the existing layout of the site by my own estimates. It was approved and payment sent and now the whole badgering..
