Hi Everyone, I am a junior web developer. I work for technologytimes.pk. Recently my boss has been asking me to increase traffic on the website. He asks me to learn on SEO. He tells me that SEO is the main thing which you need to work on to increase the traffic and the site rank. Will someone please guide me on that. Some questions that i need helpers to answer? 1. Is Wordpress already Search Engine Optimized? 2. Will SEO increase site traffic and ranking? Last but not the least, i need some tips to increase site ranking. Also i am having a similar problem that our website is not seen in search engine results even when the search topic is quite similar to our content. Pls anybody help me with that. SEO takes a while to learn so you best bet is to search on google and read the articles on there to learn about it. I don;t use WordPress but I think there are some SEO plugins which help, however most SEO is off site, mainly backlinks to your site, so this is the main thing you should be trying to increase. The reason it isn't showing up is either it is not indexed by google, or is not deemed important enough. To check if it is indexed type the url into google, if it appears it is indexed if not you need to submit your site. Do this by searching submit site to google and then click on the link. If it is on there then it is just not important enough (does not have a high enough PageRank) to be shown for those keywords. That is where SEO comes in, backlinks and quality content are the most important, using your keywords as anchor text. There are loads of articles on the web so just search and read them. One thing is though that SEO is as much to do with hard work and perseverance as it is to do with knowledge, so there is no quick way to do it.
The best way to make your page SEO friendly is to do the following easy things: 1. Have a H1 Header for your title with your keyword(s) in the title. 2. Have an H2 and H3 Sub-header somewhere in your article to break it up and use the keywords in those headers. Having sub-headers is helpful because many people scan a page and if the sub-headers look enticing they stay on the page and read it. 3. Sprinkle your keyword throughout the article 1.5 to 2 percent. Any more makes it seem spamy. 4. Bold one keyword in the article....Use Italics on one keyword in the article.....Underline one keyword in the article. 5. Be sure keyword is in the first paragraph of your article 6. Be sure keyword is in the last sentence of your article 7. Have quality content 8. Have one outgoing link to an authority site. Now people will agree that outgoing links can cause people to click on it and leave your site, so here is the trick. There is code you can use that will leave the outgoing link in your article, but your visitors will not be able to see it. <a style="text-decoration: none; color: black;" href=""></a> Just add your url in between the quote marks.
rhondag is 100% correct! To ad to it, your main article,blog post should be sticky and a minimum of 600 words. If you use the above technique of 1.5 to 2 percent keyword ratio that will give the search engines the best chance to know what your website is about and display it accordingly. wordpress is somewhat SEO optimized but to make it better, you can use "all in one seo pack" plugin. once you activate the plugin, you will need to do some setup to make your site fully SEO optimized. to answer your second question, yes, SEO can help you increase your ranking and traffic. but you will need to be familiar with SEO, properly optimize your site, and do the needed link building to make that happen. do a little research on SEO and read on. you will get better over time.

But our website has been published from 2010, isn't two year enough to cover the traffic? one thing you have marked that we can't get indexed unless there is some content on the home page. Well, if you see the website then you will come to notice that our website is an online newspaper which displays articles and news on the first page while complete articles can be found through their respective category pages. And another thing, the company works on a small scale and is not in a position to afford an SEO Expert. And by the way, i am only 15 years old. and going to pass high school. Obviously, seo can help your site to get good ranking & internet traffic. But at first you have to learn it. Doing seo without indepth knowledge of it, you will harm your site. Some, good tutorials are seomoz, seochat, google seo starter guide. Search them in google.
