I used google alerts for one of my websites for a few month now and their alerts are not very accurate. I would call them almost random...

Meh, not very correct most of the time. Still, thanks for sharing to those who didn't know about this yet.

 

Nice tips and suggestion. I sometimes forget to mess with google alerts or add and update them. Something to mess with in my spare time.

 

That's not a trick. It's just one of google's service called google alert.

 

Nice tip. However it may not be fully accurate service. The other way to check backlinks is ofcourse via the Yahoo's site explorer or Webmaster tools ( once you verify the domain ).
