Hello, This is my first post here at DP, I have been a member for a while, but I mostly surf the threads and I have learned a lot. I am getting rather discouraged with my link building, I have had my e-commerce site up for a little over a year and I have been working on building links for about 8 months by submitting about fifteen articles per month to ezinearticles, goarticles, isnare distributor, and searchwarp. They are good high quality articles (not just thrown together) and all of them have anchor text links in the bio. My site is also optimized for these keywords as well. I use the submitexpress.com backlink checker and it says that I have 4 thousand something backlinks and most of my competition has 16-20 thousand. On my site we generally sell high end pet supplies for dogs and I have been targeting several keywords such as dog clothes, dog collars, designer dog clothes etc... Although I have worked my way up to page two on google for many of these words, I cannot get them to bump up any higher, and I cannot get my backlinks to increase, I seem to be in a rut. I am getting an average of 130 uniques per day and I want to increase this to gain more sales. I want to use the social bookmarking method of links but I am not sure how. Do I post good content on my site then "Digg" it or do you post something in a blog, I am very confused about this. It seems that it would be much easier to get links if my site wasnt an e-commerce site, as I do not have much of a place for content, as I specialize in selling our products. I am open to all suggestions and I appreciate any input you guys may have. Thanks, BJones
pm me your pet site url. If i like it, I can offer you a good pr page from a pet site that will bump your worth considerably.
well to start, I'm showing you at a pr one, how much effert do you put into trading links with relevant sites? Submitting to article directories is ok, but linking with relevant sites and finding 1-way links is what you wanna do to get rankings. Maybe look at the services thread here at dp, there are link building guys here that will do the work for you. I will recommend 1 if your interested. For now, I can offer you a pr 3 links spot. If you can offer me something in return, I'll even through in a pr 5 site wide. Nice site.
The site was a PR 1 for the longest time, but at the end of last month it started displaying a PR 4. Part of the time it shows PR 1 then later it will show 4. (I think it has something to do with the PR update that is taking place) I read that somewhere on these forums. I havent done any link exchanges, I mostly have just been submitting articles, I thought my time would be better spent trying to get 1 way links. I dont know where to start when it comes to trading links.
here's what ya do: go to google and type in phrases such as: dogs "add url" dogs "suggest url" dog breeds "add url" ... There are thousands of sites you can recip with, not the best alternative to one ways but better than nothing. Also post in the link exchange forum and link sales threads on dp.
BJones, I see you are putting lot of efforts in your site, so I would like to share one secret with you. Okay, it´s not a secret as everybody knows it, but you haven´t mentioned it above so it seems to me you´ve disregarded it in your strategy. The thing I am talking about is your own affiliate program. You can just turn other webmastrs into your affiliates offering them revenue sharing. They will gladly put your links (even very well optimized deeplinks) on their pages if they see that it could potentially bring them some money. This way you´ll not only get links but also increase your revenues at the same time.
Bjones, have you done directory submissions for your site? There are a lot of free link directories out there which are search engine friendly and you can submit your site to them. You can find a very good resource at http://www.addurl.nu/ Use various text links related to your niche and submit your website to these link directories. They will help you build links to your site and also improve Pagerank.
With directory submissions you can get lot's of backlinks Olso buy 1-3 sidewide links on related sites with good pr Good Luck
Thanks you guys for the tools and information. I usually take 2-3 days per month and work on nothing but directory submissions. I never really thought about buying links, should I go somewhere like textlinkbrokers? Thanks, Brent
don't use textlinkbrokers, as they charge commission. search right here on DP, that way you will direct with the webmaster. Also, think of a cool marketing idea - maybe something like getting your URL tattooed or shaved on a dogs back, then add the story/pics to your site and submit the story to news sites to get links. OK, maybe not that idea, but you get my drift right? Good luck!
Yeah the dog clothes and accessories market is becoming quite a competitive one so just when you think you've done enough, realize that you haven't! Think that way and you'll do fine, just remember there is always somebody out there trying to take your spot away from you.
Hi BJones, I have several e-commerce sites and what I do is add them to www.receivelinks.com - The catch here is you limit it to Language (duh) and more importantly to category. While you get a lot less points only extremely relevant links are added to your site and meanwhile you get a lot of points to get links back to your site and you can deep link or whatever you want to do. So try out www.receivelinks.com - there is even a thread on this forum that gives away 500 points for free so you can try it first before adding your site.
Yes, the pet accessory market seems to have become very competitive. However we have came very far and made it to page 2 of google for some very competitive keywords. I feel that all we need are some good links to push us to pg 1, lots of time and effort have been put into this site. Thanks everyone for your input. Bjones joncopets.com
