My sales have almost totally dried up in the past few days, an anomaly I attribute to the ensuing of Christmas and the holidays. I was stupid enough not to set up any Christmas-related campaigns and cash-in on the shopping buzz! I was hoping, therefore, that maybe we could all contribute to compiling a list of markets/niches which do well at christmas and a list which do not. It could be very useful for future endeavours. Of course, sales trends differ widely between marketers, as technique has a lot to do with it. But maybe we can extract some generalities if we had a list. So far, I have learnt that, at least in my experience, the following niches do NOT do well during Christmas: Mortgage Loans Bedroom Furniture Investment Services
I've found DVD Video (red line) always peaks around now although it is actually dropping year on year.
Finance tanks right now, dont' even bother with it. As for what works: toys gifts perfume shoes clothes lingerie basically anything retail works very well right now and even into January. I don't think I've heard of amazon.com referred to as a `niche`!
bigblue, are you trending bluray and hd-dvd? Maybe more and more people are switching. Then again, placed like netflix might be easting into that also.
My experience shows that the weight loss niche is at a low point until right after Christmas. My guess is that people want to enjoy the holidays, and figure out how to lose weight right after. Weight loss being one of the most popular New Year's resolutions. Cookie recipes Is a good one around Christmas too. All the best, Michael Oksa
Excellent feedback! You're right: niches related to stopping smoking, weight loss and other New Year's resolution-type topics should do well straight after Christmas and the beginning of the new year. Weight loss in particular should be very popular, given that so many people pig-out during the holiday season.
