PageRank value displayed on Google Toolbar is a discrete number from 0 to 10. However, the real PageRank value hidden deep inside Google’s algorithms is a fraction between 0 and 1. Some threshold values of this real PR correspond to numeric values of the toolbar PR. What do you think about this question please explain your reply.
a link from PR 5 better 5 links from PR 4 if Link from PR5 , quality link (looks natural links) and same topic
If pagerank my site is 0, should i building backlinks on site have pagerank height or low. Thank you for interesting
I choose 5 PR4 Links, mainly because in worst case scenario if the PR5 goes down you'll be affected by it as well.
All else being equal, I'd take the multiple links from the PR4s over a single link from a PR5. Though all else is never equal. You also create better link diversity. And who's is to say that one of the PR4s won't become a PR5, and the PR5 won't become a PR4 in the next update?
"Amen" to every portion of this post. I agree. P.S. I encourage giving green rep to good posts like this. I did.
All other factors being equal, the PR5 would provide more link juice but is a more risky option as you are putting all your eggs in one basket. If the PR5 is drops or gets deindexed then you lose some or all of its value, the PR4s are a safer option in this respect. A PR5 link carries approximately 5 times more value than a PR4 link, so you'll only be getting a slight benefit in terms of link juice from a single PR5 vrs 4 PR4. With this in mind I'd say go for the 4 PR4 9unless the PR4 pages have a stupid number of links compared to the PR5!)
Yes Bozz you are right. Its been risky when you are dealing with high pr links...It may be harm you too beside some link juice too...
Lots of things depend --- # How strong are the PR4 links? Do they have the quality backlinks on those pages to support PR$? Same equation applies to PR5 page/link. # Another factor is - the number of out-bound links from those pages! If the PR5 page has 40 out bound links and those PR4 pages have less than 10 out bound links each -I would go for the PR4 pages as it will have greater SERP power or links juice than the PR5 page. So - the metrics are not as simple as is asked by the OP. Lots of research has to go.
I had a PR6 link pointing to my home page. Then that link disappeared, and my PR soon dropped a point.
