Ok so after starting a thread on signitures and the "link juice" that they hold, I have thought of this experiement: Link juice for the sites in our signiture will increase if the sigs are on a page where the PR is high. Most threads have a PR of 0. If everyone posts in this forum with their link in their sig BUT also has a link to this thread in their sig, then the PR of the thread will increase along with the link juice for our own sig sites! Will this work? If so, everyone needs to get posting with this thread's URL in their sig and then posting in this thread. THINK ABOUT IT: If we get 1000 DP members with their sig pointing to this thread, the PR must surely sky rocket along with our sig backlinks. Is this viable?
Do you really think this will work? I have heard that the signature links at Digital point don't pass on any page rank authority. I guess we'll see...
I really have no idea. I was just thinking that if this thread got a ton of backlinks then the PR will jump up and all that post here will be advantaged. I made this thread here and I quoted another forum moderator who said that sig links do help PR but only slightly. Which is why we would need high PR on this thread.
I believe DP is dofollow but i think although a thread has a high pagerank if it's not context oriented to the signature link's content it wouldn't do much
I'm not sure how the page would actually generate more PR than it already has by linking to itself. I dont think it will work.
You can view the answer to this in the Google Sitemaps Sub-forum with my stickied Google XML Sitemap FAQ since it already has PR.
Would this work or not? My idea just involves finding a way to give a thread a lot of PR and then posting in it so that the sigs generate more link juice.
So what are you trying to establish is do signature links pass page rank? The main problem with this test is it will keep bumping this post to the top of the list as more and more people visit it and post. Therefore like sticky posts: For example, this is PR4: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=224828 It will gain pagerank flowing from the homepage rather than from the signature links. A lot better, more accurate experiment would be, to buy a completely new domain. Put one page on it, then link to it from just signature links, then you will find out how much PR is passed.
Apparently PR is passed from sig links and so I was thinking that maybe this thread's PR would increase if members had the thread's URL in their sig. That would mean that anyone who posts here will benefit from PR going through to their sig link. But I'm not sure how likely it is to work.
