    Hey guys,
I was doing a keyword research on a phrase and found it to be good. It is a 4 word phrase and while making a "search" on it i found it has just 17k results and also did other keyword analysis methods. the search volume is moderately good.

But my prob is that the top ten competitions are biggies like amazon, best buy, epinions etc. The PR of those pages are 2-3. Not very high it seems.

So what do you think of this?? Should i go for it??

Well rather than asking question and then spend your time guessing, just go for it. Even if it brings moderate amount of traffic listed on second page of search results, it is still better than nothing ;)

Well, i talked about their PR cos it shows their reputation in front of google..

but still i feel a li'l testing will suffice..so I am gonna go for it..if anyone wants to share their 2 cents then do post. I would be waiting for few days before a start a website on this.

Having big sites ahead of you is quite difficult to beat. Plus 17,000,000 results is quite a lot. If you think you can make money out of being behind amazon etc... or have enough time to put in to beat them, then go for it.

Sorry, yes I got that wrong. It could be good if you think the traffic will be enough. Are there any non-big sites near the top which you can guess from their alexa rank?

Whats the highest (biggest number) alexa rank on the first page of the results.

I can only be a guess because they may have other keywords bringing them traffic.

Well, with 'authority' sites in the top positions, but only 17k results, and high search volume, you should absolutely give it a shot. Without question!

You may find that the 'authority' sites rank because they are seen as 'authority' sites, and not because they've been SEO'd for the particular term. I believe you can compete with them with some effort in SEO. Go for it, and report your results. This could be a great case study for the rest of us, who may be in competition with large, 'authority' sites. Good luck!
