Really cool, will help alot of people without programming knowledge add a social element to their sites, aside from simple comments.

SMO (Social Media Optimization) is the next big thing....if it already isn't.

SEO gives almost full control to webmasters on deciding which sites are good and which aren't.

SMO is more inclusive and opinion of users also matter.

For sure. I review many GA accounts everyday and can say this traffic source (social) is high conversion as well. To me, that is more valuable than SEO. People talk to people==> a link is posted==> it is more trusted than SERPS.

This is a brilliant move by G :).

Indeed a viable tool, I'm contemplating how to incorporate this into our current approach.

Appreciate the video. Although certainly time consuming, I've found SMO to be more predictable than SEO, at least for us newbies

i dont believe that a social network can generate quality traffic as to what search engine can give.

Think strategy and I think your mind may change.

    Why did Google buy YouTube?
What is Google's true intention in the video?
Why did Google so quickly adapt social bookmarking?
Why do 60% of searchers not trust search engines?

Just a few questions to ponder :).

It is because you are NOT marketing to a machine (SEO), you are marketing to people. It requires a special touch. Done properly social marketing can lead to more high conversion traffic than you know what to do with.

I am not sure I would call it SMO. It is basic marketing. Presenting an offer to the right people at the right time. A truly beneficial offer, NOT bogus once clicked through...everything you said it would be-- and more. When you build that kind of credibility in a social group your name is trusted and gold. Opening the door for a great future. The opposite applies if your offer is full of Sh*t.

IMO, social marketing is the future for the genuine marketeer :).
