    Great info on this thread.

I'd like to add that I recently read somewhere (can't find the source now) that Google only indexes up to 10 words from the page title so keep it to 10 or less.

I know that they limit keyword phrases in AdWords campaigns to 10 words, so that would make sense.

    That's not entirely true.

Your confusing what Google shows in the results pages. In the results pages they only show a set number of characters from your title (about 65 I think) so if you go over this your title will be truncated on the search results pages.

However Google does appear to read the whole title if it is longer (it just doesn't show it all in the results_ - but by making it longer you do dilute the title and Google probably considers any word within the title to be less important.

So it is good practice to keep the title relatively short.

Is it advisable to use the same word twice right after each other like 'Amplifier Amplifier' in the title?
Wouldn't the search engines think you are trying to spam the keyword 'Amplifier' a bit?

EDIT : As I thought the original article this was taken from only has the word 'Amplifier' once in the example. Must have been a mistake by the OP.

I posted it here first and then proof read it before it went on my blog.

I occasionally post tips on my blog.

But most of my knowledge is given out in the private mentor group I run (see sig) - closes to new members on Wednsday.

Yes, this is quite normal. You are competing against thousands, maybe millions, of websites for your keywords. Keep at it! :)

    Yep persistance pays off.

Keep building links and adding more content.

While I may have a site where each page on the site averages 100-500 visitors a month, the fact is that:

50% of pages get no traffic
    20% get a trickle (maybe 10 a month)
    10% get 10 - 100
    10% get 100-500
    and 10% get 1000-100,000

The more you put out there the more chance you get of hitting good rankings.

As you get better at understanding nichem the demand vs. competition of particular keywords/subniches you will be able to better pick the topics for your posts which consistently hit high traffic levels.
