A Lesson for CB Newbies

Okay - I've seen a pile of threads on here over the last year claiming that people are getting screwed by Clickbank because they go without a sale for a couple days or whatever. If you look at your stats daily (as most of us to), it can get a little upsetting when you see $0 - especially when you're used to making some money each day.

I average $60-$70 per day on CB, which is nice, but not outstanding (this thread isn't about me or my Clickbank revenue). This past Thursday I had my first day without a single sale in a few weeks. It kind of pissed me off. My traffic is pretty consistent day to day with the weekends being a little slower than weekdays on average. Anyway, the two days before Thursday had been better than average, so I tried to calm myself down. I poured myself a beer, sat down on the couch, watched a football game and forgot all about my CB issues.

Anyway, Friday and Saturday were two amazing days - it brought my weekly total back way above average, despite a $0 day mixed in. The moral of the story is - don't get to fussed about daily stats. Bad days happen - it doesn't mean CB screwed up and it doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong. Good days will also happen and if you focus on them and forget the crappy days, I guarantee you will be a happier internet marketer. Look at your weekly/monthly stats so that the good days cancel out the bad ones.

so true. Its a bit annoying seeing threads like "Clickbank is screwed up" just because they didnt get a sale for the day.

I guess sometimes its CB's fault but hey, every network will have issues now and then.

CB has been quite good lately actually.

Very true, instead of whining about CB's stats and tracking and creating a thread here. It's better to put those efforts on writing an article, or learning about video marketing, publishing videos and bookmarking etc..Also don't check your stats often...let's keep it down to 2 times a day...

I do agree with you DLM, there are tons of variable which affects your sale of the day. And lots of discussion was previously held by other members including me, but as our experience grow we understand scenario in greater context.

Exactly - but a lot of the variation is just regular statistical deviation.

If you only average 3-4 sales a day (at $20-$25 per sale) it makes perfect sense that each month you might have 1-2 days with 0 sales and 1-2 days with 6 or 7 sales. I'm not going to go over the formula, but even if Clickbank never did anything wrong and your traffic was always the same, $0 days would still be very possible every so often, just through statistical variance.

I had never thought of this matter as you had, but when ever my sales goes down for couple of days then I see a BIG day for sure.

I can not agree more with you. As i always say: gone are those days when i thought CB was shaving. What some people don't understand is that there is a great deal of luck in this affiliate marking thing or general make money online.

I mean - Handwork and intelligence pays off, but if you by chance have some little luck to spice it up, then you are set to go. I would say luck counts for up 5 - 10 percent, or even more!

Days of zero sales should be considered as bad luck. Especially if you only make 2 to 4 sales daily. Moreover it is statistically proven.

yeah I had the same thing happen afew weeks ago when I had a $200 day the all of a sudden it went dead!! I ended up making $20 so that was a relief but then it all evened out the following days!!

I think those threads are created by newbies and affiliates that are used to getting a certain amount of sales then once they discover afew days of no sales then they think its CB's fault.

Like someone mentioned earlier, some affiliates are too over zealous in viewing their stats and when they discover an anormality they immediately think its CB cos they always get a set amount of sales per day with the same traffic.

Like DLM said its luck and theres no guarantees, its not like our consumers have a gun pointed to their head while they view our websites!!

The best policy is to keep working hard and always finding ways to tweak the pages and promote other products!!

Love your "Good day and bad day" comments. In business, we should always look at the whole picture, for one or two bad days , upset yourself is not worth it. You deserve to do business in a happy mood, the happier you are , the more money you make ! It's called " Law of Attraction" !

Thats exactly what i am "preaching" :) Outages/delays and a few days without a sale a normal - you need to see the whole picture, at least see a whole week/month..and not freak out when there is a day or two without sales.

Well, I am not a big clickbank affiliate, but I know of several BIG affiliates averaging 20 or more sales a day, who has complained over Clickbank sales dropping, not just for a few days but for a week or more. If you are averaging 20 sales a day and they drop to zero for a week, certainly something is wrong.
