According to attorney Kate Wells and members of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the law is “a human rights violation which criminalizes homelessness.†The camping ban, commonly called the sleeping ban, or blanket ban, prohibits sleeping on public property between the hours of 11 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. It is also against the law to set up cooking equipment, or to cover oneself at night with the intention of sleeping. it depends..everyone has a right to sleep i guess..but should people have makshift homes,toilets,campfires,and dirty clothes hanging out where the public gathers on public(taxpayer)grounds?Maybe not..i think that shelters and community housing is the solution
This is really sad. The homeless are already down in their lives and the law should help and protect them, not punished further.
Yep - there's some cold-hearted and unthinking people out there. In fact, this is their solution to the problem of homelessness. Criminalise it, drive it further into the margins of society and hey presto. You have no problem of homelessness because it is now no longer visible.
