Many times when I see a domain for sale, the seller will brag about how if you seperate the keywords in the domain name (ex:newsandinfo.com = news and info), enter them in a Google search, you'll get a result of like xxxxxxxxxx websites displayed. I would think that's bad because there's more competition for your site to be on the first page. I see many bragging about this though so maybe I'm missing something. Please explain if a large search result is a good or bad thing. thanks, ph111
Naming your site after your domain may seem obvious to some of you, but you'll be surprised to learn that not every website is named after the domain name even when the webmaster owns that domain name. Naming a site after its domain name is important, for the simple reason that when people think of your website, they'll think of it by name. If your name is also your URL, they'll automatically know where to go
Sawanbatahan, I think you misunderstood my question. Imagine, if you own the domain... friedchicken.com. You type in (fried chicken) into Google's search box and you get 7,430,000 results. You also own the domain grilledchicken.com. You do the same and only get 5,490,000 results. Is one number better than the other? Some people I see selling domains make a selling point out of getting very high results when entering the keywords of a domain name into a search engine. I would think the lower the better because of less competing sites.
I would like to see an example of what you are talking about. it would make sense for me to trump up the fact that there are X # of searches and a high number of competitors if I was already at #1 if I was an SEO company selling websites portfolio sites. But if you are doing in house no flip, low volume SEO on your own, low competition can be good, if there is an actual value to the key phrase traffic.
