I'm looking to get some reviews and suggestions for the header (everything in <head>, too) on one of my sites, RolePlayGateway. I was looking over ProBlogger's How To Draw StumbleUpon Users Into Your Blog post, and I've been giving some serious thought to improving, at the very least, my header. Our target market is roleplayers, you know, the really geeky people who pretend to be someone else for fun. Any and all reviews are helpful - but probably would be more accurate if you have a familiarity with the field. Thanks in advance!
It looks good i stuck wright away reading, that mean its good keep going. I ilke the layout not to musch jibba jabba, clean the way i like it.
Okay, so I've removed the applet completely. Most roleplayers aren't into social news/bookmarking (yet, atleast), so for my sort of niche, these extra items are not useful. I've adjusted our description to be much more keyword rich, as well. This should generate much more organic traffic (the best kind of traffic ) over the next few months.
Hi Martindale, If anything - I think the header (viewed in conjunction with the rest of the site) comes across as a little corporate. As an ex-role-player - my hobby was very much about escapism - about wanting to be somewhere or be something else. Nothing in the header is communicating that to me at the moment. I would look at using more distinctive colours - or at least including an image-based accent that communicates that same sense of adventure. Dylan
You have a ton of scripts and lots of styles all over the place in the <head> section, also a lot of meta tags that probably aren't needed. Change the TITLE!!!!! (meta tag) Description is way too long ... Logo needs sort of blurry, like the black has been smashed together. Other than that, not bad.
First of all if you wanna attract those (as you say geeks ) you need to change your layout /theme/skin . Coz you are using the default theme which is not bad but not that good for your site. Also as said above , try and change your logo. Regards, Ace.
