    ddos is a distributed denial of service attack, so the attack is coming from many ip's. I can't remember what some of the big companies do to combat a ddos but you should be able to google it.

    Some hosting companies have pretty good weapons to fight it back.
    Atleast servermatrix.com has some. Change host maybe it helps not sure.

    Well, you can try Cisco ddos firewall(Hardware not software) Contact your hosting company for that.Also you should install mod_evasive.It blocks almost 95% ddos attacks.:)
