Any long term strategies for driving traffic to the blog? I noticed that you didn't mention anything about search traffic. (or maybe I didn't read thoroughly enough...)

Digg/StumbleUpon/Social websites can drive massive traffic to a site but there's a limit to many times it can be frontpaged or stumbled..

 

linking to youtube vids was never the issue; it's when the vids are embedded, so that they are playing on the same page that the adsense ads are displayed on.

do you see adsense on the youtube site? the only thing that i see is ad.doubleclick.net

so if youtube isn't using adsense, how can it be legal for you to use it?

the scammers and forum noobs out here don't know that just 3 months ago, embedded video next to adsense was *specifically* outlawed in the google tos: "In order to avoid associations with copyright claims, website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results."

jensense talked to google in january, when the tos was altered: "I also talked with Google before this went live, so I have gotten clarification on some of the points below, to help answer any questions publishers may have had with the new changes... I did clarify that this(the tos change) still does cover the same things as before, such as MP3, video, news groups and image results. It could also cover anything else that is copyrighted, such as stolen content, something many publishers have a problem with."

so who is telling the truth here?

 

Like I said before, if its hosted at Google video or youtube, it is automatically assumed that there is no copyright infringement

Also when you upload to a video site, you agree to the terms which states that the video is allowed to be posted to other sites by other people who aren't the original video creator

this is about embedding youtube video on the same page as adsense.

perhaps you should re-read the thread a couple of times, so that you'll understand what it's about.

 

I am runiing one video blog but main problem is that most of the video get unable or deleted after one month on few more period in youtube .

 

If the videos are being deleted then I suggest you to download them in your computer then upload them in your host ! It may take a bit of your bandwidth but its a solution

a lot of videos get deleted off of youtube because of copyright violations.

so if you have adsense on the same page as the stolen video, it's clearly a violation of the adsense tos, per the above posts... you risk losing your adsense account.

if the videos were deleted because of a copyright violation, you sure don't want to put them on the same page as your adsense ads.

 

you really don't get it don't you? when youtube/google erases a video, that video will also be erased from your site, so.. you don't have any copyrighted material on your site since it is deteled by google/youtube

I'd like some advice on traffic to video sites too

I get traffic from a few audio/video specialty search engines, but video doesn't seem to put much useful content on my pages in the eyes of Googlebot.

 

Pick a smallish niche term such as "insane videos" which is fairly easy to rank for, but has a few searches. This will get you a bit more traffic, if you can hit critical mass of around 100-200 subscribers, all you need to do then is keep putting videos up.

Subscribers on my video site went slowly up until about 200, after that they started doubling every month and within no time I was almost at 1000. If you put actual funny videos on, people tend to use the tell a friend/social bookmark stuff, which means less promotion legwork for you!
