I attempt to be thorough and give 100% honest disclosure. Please read this listing carefully.

    For sale: Pingzone.com
48 hour auction from time of this posting (to the minute). If this item remains unsold, try an offer
    Due for re-registration: 01/16/2008
    Registrar: Melbourne IT (Yahoo)
    Income: assume none
    Starting price: $5
    Bid Increment: $1
    BIN: $15
    Payment options: Paypal only
Notes: Buyer pays transfer fees (if any)

About this domain name: Another domain name I never got around to developing, this would be ideal for any number of uses but gaming, niche directories and software all come to mind.
About transfer: Despite what you may have heard about dealing with Yahoo, transfers to other registrars is very easy and there are no Yahoo fees associated with transfer. Once Paypal payment is received, I will unlock this domain name for buyer initiated transfer. (I will help with this if needed)

Please ask questions in this thread if you feel the answer is pertinent to others, or via PM.

What are you talking about? I've done this many times and not one person has paid a transfer fee anywhere near close to that. GoDaddy for example charges $7.25 but also extends the registration period by a year, which makes it a great bargain.

You've potentially trashed this auction with that remark, it is not appreciated. I'd really like to know what you are talking about. I'd also suggest that if you are paying such transfer fees that you switch registrars.

    Hi MiMo

Now I see where you are coming from but you are in error. This domain name is registered through Yahoo, who is a wholesale reseller for Melbourne IT, there are no current registrar side fees at all for transfer to another registrar. I've verified this a number of times including just a few minutes ago with Yahoo. I cannot explain why Melbourne IT advertises such a thing, other than to suggest that it must be retail pricing and user contract termination related. In any event it is so far outside of industry standards that I have no idea why anyone would pay it.

The going rate for a domain name purchaser initiated transfer to most registrars is $9-$10 but as I mentioned earlier; GoDaddy charges $7.25 (many others are equally competitive as well) and they sweeten this deal with a one year extension of registration. There are no other fees associated with domain name transfer.
