Someone posted on elance.com in SEO for a listing in DMOZ and got two bits to put his website in the DMOZ. One for $1000 and one for $900. I can't belive that an DMOZ editior would do this.
this is odd. my site is in the g directory: http://www.google.com/search?q=toofast...2FPunk&hl=en but when i click on the category that i'm listed in....my site isn't there: http://www.google.com/Top/Shopping/Clothing/Niche/Genre_and_Subculture/Punk/ any idea what could be happening? my site is dmoz listed.
I thought I'd add this update to the update thread. There doesn't seem to be any update for me. McDar does show 2 sets of BLs for my main site, but neither seems to be new. I'm also a flat PR5 across the board, hoping for a bump to 6 /*tom*/
I have to say that based on the headline I thought it was going to be a rather useless post. But what an incredible find. Major kudos to you in this great observation Brad
Oh lord.. please don't remind me about DMOZ... ARG. I wonder if my mandatory hope-you-forgot-about-your-inclusion-request wait period is over. Those damn dirty dmoz editors...
When I click (check) on iwebtool page rank predictor I see this string coming from a Google server. Rank_1:1:5 Rank_1:1:2 Rank_1:1:2 Rank_1:1:5 Rank_1:1:5 Rank_1:1:4 Rank_1:1:4 Rank_1:1:5 Rank_1:1:2 Rank_1:1:4 Rank_1:1:2 Rank_1:1:2 Rank_1:1:3 Rank_1:1:2 Rank_1:1:2 What does it mean?
Yes, I understand that. That's what the prediction tool says. I was curious why there are variations. Are different PR numbers coming from different Google servers?
Probably from different domains with different PRs, with the third number being the PR of the site that links to you. That's just a guess!
I am listed in DMOZ but since i'm not on the first page for alphabetical or page rank order i can't see my site in the category listing. How do you go to page 2, etc?
I've been wondering about these results also. It seems that they are using the 5 from the first result as the future pagerank as mentioned but there is a problem: If you take the query string that gives these results: http://66.249.93.99/search?client=navclient-auto&ch=61295735629&q=www.example.com&features=Rank and replace the ip address with one that you know the pr of, the results with all those ranks show the same thing (at least in the cases i checked) but that number is different from what I know the pr to be at that datacenter and it's also different from iwebtool's own pagerank checker for that datacenter which makes me wonder how accurate this tool is. If I average the third number from each group and round it off, it gives my current pr. The checker is here: http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_prediction
Maybe the PR5 site below you hasn't moved up above you yet, and your site is still just a PR4. I would stop wasting time with toolbar PR.
There are not such kind of tools available for page rank of your website.so keep distance this types of tools.
Yeah, I wouldn't bother with it. This is a thread from 4 years ago and we all know toolbar pagerank isn't accurate. Also, if these tools base their pagerank prediction on backlinks then it will definitely be inaccurate since the tool wouldn't be able to determine which backlinks are being counted by Google.
I have tried using several page rank tools throughout the years and none of them seem too accurate.. especially for smaller sites.
