A Good Starter PPC program?

    Hi all,

New member here. We are currently in the process of developing a website (very top secret niche) and I have been tasked to do market research. One of the first tasks on my to-do list is to find great ad revenue generators to start (eventually combining it with ad space sales, which is further down on the to-do list)

After about 3 months of research, especially with a lot of it done here on these forums, I can conclude that PPC success is generally niche and region based, with Adsense being the top contender.

Due to the restrictions on Adsense for new dot coms, we currently have a waiting process before our application is processed. However, in everybody's expert opinion, what would be a great starter PPC generator, before we can jump on the Google bandwagon?

I have heard of success with Bidvertiser, Chitika, Kontera (minimal) and YPN. For a brand new company, which ad generator would not only blend almost as well as Adsense, but will also generate a good start up revenue stream, to help kick us into gear?

I know it's a bit tough since our niche can't be exposed, and I do apologize if the question comes across as too vague.

There are dozens i could suggest, but to know which one is likely to work for you i would need to know

    1) which countries the bulk of your traffic is from
    2) how much daily volume will you initially have
    3) how will your traffic to advertisers be generated? Will there be a human click on a text ad or will you have cpv traffic generated via interstitials ... will you primarily use ppc ads or are you planning on cpm, a combination or what

    Good Luck,

The bulk of our traffic will be from the US, since we are a US based company. I'm sure we will get international traffic as well.

Considering our niche, just to start, we're probably looking at anywhere from 20,000 to 25,000 unique visitors daily, with probably close to 60,000 visits daily.

We will sell ad space, but to start we're looking at textual based ads. However CPM traffic will be combined with PPC ads. Our CPM ads will be text based as well, only using banner ads on top affiliated websites (which is later down the road)

    Based on experience:

InfoLinks is very good, easy to integrate, and can be merged in with nearly any publishing network. Here is my quick review on some companies, since I have tried many:

Adsense - Dominant. Great revenue per click, for me it was as high as even over $2 per some clicks, typically, about .65 though, which is great.
Bidvertiser - Ads displayed did not match my niche, CTR was awful, CPC was extremely low.
Adbrite - Awful. CPM was between .09 and .30.
Right Media Exchange - Bad, they just collect other networks that you need to apply to. I applied to all 11 or so of the networks and all have stayed in the 'Applied' status since then.
    CPXInteractive - Very low CPM.
BannerConnect.net - Not as bad as the crap being said about it. .46 CPM for me, not too bad, but not great at the same time.
AdsDaq - Terrible, unrelated ads, and clicks as low as .04!
AdToll - So-so network, doesn't compare to AdSense.

Others that I was not accepted into, but have researched plenty on:

Casale Media - I hear they have a decent CPM and are good.
ValueClick Media - I heart they also have a decent CPM.
Tribal Fusion - This one really intrigues me. You need 500,000 monthly visits I believe, but I hear the CPM is better than any company, even as high as $2.00! I really want to give them a try when my site gets of eligibility.
YSN - Being in Beta for what, 5 years already? I hear they pay well per click, but ads are much different than niche.
Pubcenter - I really wanted to get accepted into this, too. Adsense's top competitor.

Hope this helped. I'm probably leaving some off that I have used, oh well, feel free to ask me any questions.

And if you're wondering, I found a solution to these ad companies... I'm using InfoLinks combined with 'Your Ad Here' slots and charging on a monthly price, so I control it. I am making more with it than I have with any of the other publishing companies besides Adsense, but if Pubcenter or Tribal Fusion lets me in, I may need to give one of them a try.

Thanks for the information, I am curious about all of this too.
What is the deal with infolinks, how does it work, what sort of site do they accept and how accurate are the ads relative to the niche?

with that kind of traffic if you can engage your user I would try to think more outside of the box than just throwing up an adsense box. Something integrated into the content of your site.

I have to say thank you to everyone here on this forum. This is by far the best advice I've gotten from anywhere, as well as informative.

I'll make sure to always visit here with any questions I have, and with any help I may provide for others.
