Can anybody recommend a good book about Search Engine Optimisation ?? I once read Search Engine Optimization (An Hour a Day) by Jennifer Grappone and Gradiva Couzin, but i guess it may be out of date now (2006).
Did you try this ? http://www.google.com/webmasters/docs/search-engine-optimization-starter-guide.pdf It is free and simple.
Try this seo e-book by Dan Thies. http://dant-linkliberation.s3.amazonaws.com/SEOFS2009.zip Hope that helps...
I would recommend that you visit some "expert" seo/sem blogs, most books are out of data being that they take time to write and then publish. Check out Matt Cutts and Streve Wiideman. In my experience 'hands-on' learning is much better than reading a book. Buy a couple sites and play around with various seo/sem methods and see what works for you. Remember, Quality Unique Content is the key to get great results.
Another problem with books, especially printed is the fact that the information often changes. By the time an SEO book has been written, edited and gone to press, much of it is already outdated. As others have suggested, use the net, peruse blogs and forums and learn as much as you can.
You can refer Andre le Roux's Search Engine Yearbook. It will help you lot. Also use google's search engine optimization starter guide. It is very basic and nice tutorial.
There are literally tons..if you can't this kind of stuff you're a long way from being an IM success.
