A "Game Server" Question

Hi, this has been on my mind for the past day and I wanted just to find out more about this.

So I'm 15, and when I was younger I loved playing a different couple PC games...they were games made by a company called Humongous Sports called Backyard Football and Backyard Baseball.

You can ask any teen who played this games when they were younger, these games are STILL fun, but they just are too easy now.

One of my favorite modes when I got the game was Online Play. It went through JRsn.com. You created an account and you could play (and actually lose) online. There's still a huge flock of people who have a want to play this game online, even with all the Madden games and such.

So I'm wondering, for someone who may know more about this, is there anyway to find the hard coded file and change the server config. and actually make a "private server" for it? I doubt you can, but I just want to find out.

Thanks for your kind responses in advance.

I know a similar thing happened a while ago... there's a site called schtack that does that with the game phantasy star online... why not ask them how they got their private servers started?

Now take how awesome the games were and multiply it by 5 and you've got online play. It was great, it had stat tracking and everything. You could see the # of Singles, Doubles, Triples, HR's, R, ERA, W-L, and everything for anybody on Baseball (including yourself) and then W-L-T, # of Passing TD's, Rushing, FGs, Safeties, etc... for football...it was so cool.

As for Grit, I signed up for their forum and will ask them how they did it. Thanks.

Anyway, here's a directory of where it installs. It does need a CD to run, so I'll post that directory in a minute. Just keep an eye out for anything where it could be.

    I looked on the CD as well, and I get the impression that it is in one of these files: Football.(A), FOOTBALL.(B), FOOTBALL.D32, football.esk, FOOTBALL.HE0, FOOTBALL.HE2, football.he4, football.mmz, FOOTBALL.R32, FOOTBALL.U32, FOOTBALL.W32

And none of those file type are editable I take it? =\
