Competition is always good and usually helps people out wanting to build more links. Sometimes people get lazy building links but if people start competing then maybe it will wake people up. I would come up with an algorithm but I will leave that to the experts.

I think google has the algorithym that you are looking for. Maybe we can get them to share it here.

Quality over quantity, and build from the inside out. Well said. And I love the dick-size intro, with the concluding "measurements of success". I actually read stuff around here, and it is nice to get some quality tongue-in-cheek humor for a change. Big Rep added dude!

Most of this Forum's (link building) threads consist of the latest & greatest list of dofollow blogs to go ransack for links, same type lists for forums, the latest three-way linking scheme, a subscription service for easy to get PR10 links, can't afford that then 30 PR4 to PR9 for only a $1, and anything or everything that does not have to do with honest, straight-forward, long-term link-building.

It is just amazing how much crap you have to wade through around here. The problem is that a lot of people actually read it, think it is good sound advice and they are off to the races. And, if you happen to speak up and argue against the advice -- it gets buried by scores of "Thank you. Great post dude!" posts from people who are only here just to (you guessed it) ransack the forum for links.

But hey what can you say or do to stem this type of mania? Nothing you can do will ever make it go away.

So from here on out, I am adopting a new posting policy for myself. I am going to encourage this mob mentality of chasing Dofollow blogs & forums. I am going to recommend they sign up for that $4.95 quality PR10 backlink every month. I am going to even write my own eBook on "How You Can Get 1000's of Backlinks a Day, Everyday, For Life" and give it away for FREE. Yes, that is what I am going to do.

The reason I am going to do all of that is because you are all my competitors, in a way. Maybe not directly, but PR is a finite number technically. Plus, it is a simple plan. A plan that is incredibly easy to implement without any maintenance. And it is viral.

We didn't! It is all due to our site partners who show our copyright link when they use our software; it really is their work which helps to get the Network known so that we all benefit, eventually.

Again, it isn't really our doing, it is the members of each of the Network sites working together as the "long tail" to create a larger whole. It seems to work but it is slow steady progress. You could have the same amount of pages in 15 minutes by using our software. Now it sounds like I am trying to promote ourselves :-( Honestly not my intention.

That I think is the most sensible comment of all the serious ones here. PR and links make sweet FA difference just so long as you make money, after all this is mainly why we are all doing this Internet stuff. Building traffic isn't going to one site, once, it is about having a returning base who feel you have something to offer. If you have nothing to offer there is no point anyone returning.

A lot of folks here are desperate to make money using Adsense and think that traffic will bring the rewards, to a certain extent it will, but unless you have something serious and relevant to say, you will invariably lose more traffic than you gain. Industry experts are worth listening to as they have something to say, most bloggers don't have anything to say so why would folks hang around another blog? As it has always been, content, quality content, that is king.

    My 5 Month old PR2 Forum - 13,828

A 10 week old, hand regged, "parked" site at Whypark - 9,535. I registered it June 9th. Already PR2.

I get a kick out of that!

    Stunned? Why?

I am not stunned, because I don't believe everything I read in the forums.

    Ronnie,

You are not stunned because you don't believe everything you read, but because you have been there, seen it................

    I know, a late reply.
