A funny "referrer"...

I checked the host report on some of my parked domains at fabulous.com today, and found a referrer coming from a forum.

I didn't understand why someone would mention a parked domain name at a forum, so I visited the link, and this was what I found:

    Poor guy... :p

    Yeah, that is really harsh...

I've been sending out a spider recently... I hope it doesn't generate THAT kind of hate.

At least I'm not spamming it though.

I think I got this bot, actually. :)

With referrer spammnig being such an issue now - and the people at the site silly enough to ignore robots.txt files - the backlash is rather understandable. :)

I read that entire thread and those guys are LAME (oh yeah, maybe we'll think about looking at robots.txt) - I've mentioned this before here, but I have a whole page about my experience with referrer log spamming - definately seems to be on the increase - these guys certainly belong on my scumbags page

Pretty annoying... they hit all my sites every day with it. I ended up simply blocking their IP. :)

It's unlikely to bother with robots.txt (I didn't read the image thread, maybe they claim it will) so I'd block by IP.

It doesn't bother with robots.txt, and uses a different user agent every request.

I've still got some work to do on this but expect this guy to appear on my IP Cheats list sometime soon.

I had seen that IP Cheats list before, but didn't know it was yours - nice work, but it is endless battle. Note also that some of those incoming referrer log spams may be from hijacked PC's - i.e. those that have been "taken" over by spyware and then used to generate stats, so if you are blocking by IP address, there could be come collatoral damage ... these guys are too clever/slimey ...

How do you block specific IPs?
    Havent tried that before...

They haven't hit my main site yet, so maybe it's best to block them before they do.. :)

Please someone give a summary to us old folks on what the FUCK these idiots are doing.

I seen the assholes on my server today, should they be banned like Shawn did?

What are they trying to do with this plan of theirs, I do not have time or the energy to figure out this one, can someone do a summary judgement on these idiots for the forum so I do not have a heart attack?

I know how much I am loved around here, no one wants to see me dead, do they?

I see your page Alek and understand what you are saying, but can you explain it in more idiot and fool proof terms so even a dummy can understand how to respond to this situation.

Act like I am 6 years old and need to be told exactly what to do!
