If you're a developer, supporter, or user of any open source programs or scripts, you can contribute to OpenDownloads.com's free online directory by submitting the URLs of your favourite open source programs.

No backlinks or personal information will be asked or required. All you have to do is add a url after selecting a category. If you want a category added, post it here in this thread. Within the next few days, I'll setup a way to suggest new categories within the site. I'm sure I missed a great many categories, and only added several programs that I use.

Does the software have to be free or just free download? That is, if a trial version is available, is that acceptable for listing in your directory? I am guessing no, but just wanted to be 100% sure.

So long as its open source, its fine. Some programs like Red Hat Linux are open source but cost money. Generally speaking, if its published under the GPL or GNU public licence, you can post it.
