Hello everyone. I have a few specific questions for the SEO experts out there. Hopefully you can lend me a hand so I can get my webpage up and running asap. But first , please excuse me if this post has “newbie†written all over it. I am indeed an SEO newbie. However, I have done a lot of research and I can’t seem to find any answers to these last few questions I have. And please only reply if you have plenty of experience. I will use this information as the base of my strategy, so I cannot risk using advice given in speculation or advice you read online. I can only trust answers from people who are highly experienced in such practices. 1- My website domain is sprtsjerseyscheap.com . There are 2 good keywords in there. “Sports Jerseys†and “Jerseys Cheap†My question is if I use my name at the end on every product description on every page of my catalog (over 500 pages), will Google penalize me for overusing those keywords? 2- Same question but I want to know if I should use my name at the beginning of every page title, or and the end possibly. Will this get me penalized? 3- I have over 500 different products to list. Each one will have a unique URL. Will Google even index all of the links? If not, which ones will they decide to index ? 4- How important is it to write a unique product descriptions for each product? I mean, there is over 500 products and these are just jerseys we are talking about. They are all very similar. I was going to write 500 word paragraphs for each one (side question: how many times do I need to mention the KW in a 500 word desc?), targeting “Sports Jerseys†and “Jerseys Cheap†and maybe one or two long tail keywords unique to that product. But of course this information is basically useless for the customer. It will just be a sales type description- encouraging people to support their team. Maybe I could throw in some fun team facts, etc etc. 5- In comparison to the importance of targeting keywords in the title, how important is it to target them in a unique product description? 6- Do I need to use software like Wordtracker to accurately determine how competitive keywords are? Right now I just compare how many “ALLINTITLE†and “INANCHOR†links show up in Google in comparison to how many times the keyword is searched for. Then I also look at the top ranking WebPages and see if they are big name companies or not. Is there a more effective way to go about this? I realize I am asking a lot. But I can’t seem to find clear information regarding my specific questions. I will dedicate my whole heart into this so I want to get as much right from the beginning as possible. A very big THANK YOU to anyone that can help me out. Again, I don’t want to sound like an arrogant or ungrateful person, because I am not, but If you are not an experience SEO expert then I kindly ask you to only reply if you are 100% certain on what you tell me. Thank you very much for reading my post. And thank you even more if you can help a newbie out!
1. Keep the keyword ration under 3%. Means: in a 100 word article you can use your keyword 3 times. If you have large content this ration goes down. If you have a small content on the site the ration can be 5% TOPS without feeling negative effects. But try to write at least 150 word articles. 2. If you overdo the H HTML tags and you stuff them with keywords it will have a negative effect on your keyword relevance. Try thinking up for key phrases, what would users search for in search engines and give the articles those titles. 3. Google will index those pages witch will have the most original content and have the most InBound links. So try to link similar products from each other and try to categorize these products in the most efficient way to keep their relevance. Like: yourdomain.com/baseball/bats/ or yourdomain.com/baseball/accessories/ 4. If you do not write unique articles, they will not get indexed in google. You can check the uniqueness of one page at copyscape.org. If you write a 500 word article you can mention your keyword phrase 10 times. Try varying the times you write them down. Like one article have 6 times, another 7, 8, trough 12. Do not make the mistake to write the key phrase exactly 10 times each article. 5. Try to make a title relevant to the currently viewed sites content, description and header tags. Its very important! 6. You can use such programs, but try to create titles by your own ideas and try thinking of which keywords and phrases people would search for. These are FACTS!!! You do not need to be a SEO expert. Cheers,
Thank you very much for your reply. I am starting to get a clearer picture here. However, there are still a few things I would like to clarify if you do not mind. 2- I do not want to keywords stuff my title, but I want to brand my site name, which happens to be 2 keywords. Ideally I would include it in the page title of every product. Will this hurt me? The rest of the content I understand needs to be unique to the product and targeted to users not search engines. Same goes for product descriptions. If I use sports jerseys cheap in each description will it hurt me? Should I limit the use to like 75% of my pages. "sports jerseys" is the main KW I am trying to rank for... Thanks again for your help.
1. don't use your company i.e your website name in your description because doing this you don't get any kind of + points from google .. make your description short and informative .... 2. no google not going to punish you if you have your website name in first or in last but as i told you above you don't get any kind of profit from that and you're only increase the length of your desciption which maybe punish your site in rankings.. 3 make your content diffrent from the other and google will diffently going to index your page.... 4. unique content is the major key to get high rank in google ..... so i thought you got your answer that how important unique content is .... now move to your next question 5. yup .... as i told ya short and informative is the best key to gety high rank in google ... well also you asked somthing abt how many times you use your keywords... well it depends on your content how rich it will be .... for 1000 words you may use 6 times ... 6. well you have to do something diffrent so make your des. like that it contains your keywords to and your desc. 2 7.. use google keywords tool .... and best of luck friend
Thank you very much for the reply. OK I think I am starting to "get it" now. I guess the only thing I am left wondering is how I can let Google know that I am trying to rank strong for the two KW "sports jerseys" and "jerseys cheap" First I will have this in my domain name. Then I plan to use the KW at least in 70-75% of my titles and H tags. Any other on-site methods to show Google that I should rank high for these KW? Thanks.
