Yesterday I registered and setup a site to promote Earth4Energy I spent about 2 hours building links. Nothing blackhat. I just woke up today to find my site ranking #1 for Earth4Energy in Google. Do you think this is just temporary boost given by Google because of all the sites that are suddenly linking/pointing to my site? I guess pretty much the same way that some blogs get a temporary boost in rankings sometimes when they make new posts? To maintain this position, can I just keep building links? I'd really love to maintain this position, but I just keep thinking I'm not going to stay there for long. If you owned my site, what would you do to maintain that #1 position? Is the site/page itself optimized properly? (I tried using H1, H2, etc.)
the product was just launched, and the keyword is not that competitive , however, thing might turn around. so keep building more links to maintain the position
I agree the keyword is not so competitive. Try optimizing your site on another variation of the key-phrase, "Earth for energy" instead of "Earth4Energy"
Ah, oh well, I thought it would be really competitive considering most of the people trying to rank for it are on DP and probably know more about SEO than I do. I guess I'll keep trying to build links, but not too much in case I get sandboxed?
Yeah you should do some keyword research. While it is exciting to get good rankings for any keyword, it is only good if people actually search for that phrase. Neither 'Earth4Energy' nor 'Earth for Energy' get enough search volume to bother optimizing for those keywords. That doesn't mean that your efforts are wasted though. You are still building your website's link profile. Just try to find some better keywords to use for your link anchor text.
It's just a temporary boost given by google. Another reason is because the keyword that you use is not really what people might search for. In fact external tools show that there's not enough data to compile statistics for it. The real challenge is how to maintain it at the current position by working on building links and adding more related content.
Yep, I agree with the posts above. Keyword is in url, its non-competitive and you had a massive spike in links. Google responded but will calm down.
I don't believe it's temporary and I believe your site will remain number #1 for the term Earth4Energy because it's not a competitive key word. I would suggest building backlinks and content targeting the following keywords: renewable energy solar power wind power hydroelectricity micro hydro biomass biofuels
usually your brand name is what you will rank high for. noone will search for Earth4Energy except you and people close to you. so better work the same on targeted KW that a general interested searcher will use in Google
new site always got good result at the beginning and drop later. i think your site not gonna last long. But you will come back faster if you have a strong and good amount of backlinks and good onpage seo.
Good job...there are "88,800 results" for the keyword "earth4energy" and you are in the second place. Keep it up
do a proper keyword research and then re-optimize your site according to your selected keywords, as at present your keyword doesn't have that much competition its only 89k
