A fading blue background

Can somebody teach me how to do up a background similar to www.digg.com or perhaps this image is available somewhere.

Essentially, the background is a fading blue.

I just found a resource that help me do just that.

It's a simple gradient fill.

 

Hmm... I'm not too sure what that means honestly.

What I did was download the background image and then use the following properties in css:

background-image: url(xxx.png);
background-repeat: repeat-x;

Is there an easier way for me to achieve the effect?
