Is it a good idea to create a dynamic directory? What I mean is that I create the categories as the submissions come. Or will that sort of backfire? Is it better to start out with a specific number of categories and not to change it? thanks!
Both I'd start with a basic structure, say 8-15 top level categories with some content in each of them. When I was making directories I found even the best research into what people will want was inaccurate. I was receiving new suggestions and coming up with new ideas every day. Mine were all of a technical nature. Perhaps it depends on your chosen topic.
yep that was what I was thinking too, just start out with a few categories and just add new ones as time goes.
I agree. Have a good basic structure, and make it expand as you get the listings to fill up the categories. It works for me, and I do not have 200 empty categories
Definately both, there is no way you will have every required category from day 1. You do require the basic structure though to avoid becoming disorganised though.
